Top Ten Things I Did Today to Keep My Mind Off Whether or Not I Am Pregnant:

10. Played with my son Sean and his friend, a little girl his age, who lives across the street, while her parents were at a meeting, this morning.

9. Organized Sean’s bookshelf in his room, it had gotten way out of hand, with books getting shoved in there every which way, and many were just lying spread out in front of it on the floor.

8. Almost finished reading the book Children of Men. Even though I didn’t feel up to going to book club last week I am still enjoying reading it and look forward to talking with friends who have read it when I am done.

7. Edited and posted pictures for my Kodak Gallery albums and sent out “Sean’s February 2007” album while Sean napped. Only a few more months/albums to go until I am caught up to the present!

6. Met my mother-in-law and grandma-in-law at Oberweiss for ice cream with Sean this afternoon! I thoroughly enjoyed my scoop of cinnamon and my scoop of pumpkin ice cream on a sugar cone (not to mention helping Sean finish off his chocolate) and of course the great company and conversation!

5. Went to one of our awesome newly remodeled neighborhood parks with Sean and laughed out loud every time I heard him go up to another child (whom he didn’t know), in the midst of his playing on the playground equipment, and say “Hi! My name is Sean! Nice to meet you! What’s your name?”

4. Picked up Bob at the train with Sean and once again relished in the look on Sean’s face when the railroad crossing signals started making noise and lighting up letting him know that Daddy’s train would be here soon!

3. Watched American Idol (especially enjoyed the Bon Jovi theme night with all the singers doing renditions of their songs) and the Dancing with the Stars results show (was sorry to see that John Ratzenberger “Cliff Claven” from Cheers and the voice of many animated characters in Sean’s favorites movies was voted off tonight. Even though he wasn’t that gifted technically with ballroom dance, he was cute and tried hard)!

2. Voted as many times as I could get through, for about 5 minutes, for my favorite American Idol contestant this season Blake! (I thought his rendition tonight of Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name” was awesome and soooooo creative!)

1. I DID NOT POAS (pee on a stick)!!! Translation: I held out and still have not done a home pregnancy test (HPT)!

Top Ten Reasons That I Think I Am Pregnant:

10. There was an embryo in me as of a week ago Sunday and I like to imagine it decided to make it self comfortable in my uterus and stay awhile (nine months to be exact)!

9. I have continued to experience ongoing crampiness that varies between a dull achiness to more painful discomfort in my uterus.

8. I wiped a significant amount of cervical mucus today (as I did a few days ago)! I have heard of pregnant women experiencing this and that it can be a sign of a “mucous plug” forming.

7. Vivid dreams (I have had them almost every night this week)!

6. No spotting what so ever! (Though I understand that the PIO might be keeping my period from starting.)

5. Fatigue! (Could also be a side effect from the meds I am on…)

4. Headaches! (They kicked in the night before last and have had them off and on since. Though they could also be a side effect from the meds, it intrigues me that I didn’t have them before this point since I have been on the PIO. Also, I RARELY get them when I am not pregnant, but had them off and on when I was pregnant with Sean!)

3. Emotional! (If I hear a sappy song, see a touching commercial or read something sentimental I tear up and feel ready to cry a river…)

2. After almost three years of trying to conceive another child our luck is bound to change eventually!

1. I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES!!!

Top Ten Things to Look Forward to If I Am Not Pregnant:

10. No more PIO (Progesterone-In-Oil) intermuscular injections in my rear end (at least not for about another 6 weeks)!

9. Beer & wine! I will be able to drink some!

8. Caffeine! I will be able to have some!

7. I can return to exercising regularly (at least until I would start my Lupron and/or Follistim shots again, if and when we try another fresh IVF cycle or an FET) and maybe even teach a few group fitness classes, if I feel up to it!

6. I can put more time and energy back into my Tastefully Simple business and maybe even schedule/do a few parties!

5. I can do more cleaning and housework! (Bob told me to write that… Just kidding!)

4. I can have sex! (Bob told me to write that too… Not really!)

3. I will be able to pick up Sean and hold him again!

2. I will know that we tried and gave our 1st IVF cycle our all (and that we can try again if we want to, recognizing what the odds were and that just because it might not work this time, doesn’t mean it won’t ever work)!

1. I know that we will have the support, thoughts and prayers of you dear family and friends to help get us through and move forward!!!

Well, it made me laugh out loud, so I think your attempt at humor succeeded. And I actually think that thinking this way can be very healthy – there *are* lots of other good things in life, and sometimes just writing them out makes you feel better.
Going back to the future now…

That is a lot of top ten lists for one post! I liked the last one best. I used to write lists or think about what I could enjoy if I weren’t pregnant. That really helped me get through those two week waits. Of course, I wasn’t excited to have sex again, because I was having it all the time when we were trying. Now I realize how lucky we were to get to try that way. I won’t take it for granted if we’re ever lucky enough to try to have a second child.
