Top of the mornin’ to ya! It’s that time of year when we drink Shamrock Shakes, eat Irish Soda Bread and write rhymes for Lori’s Limerick Chick Contest!

I was honored to be the 2011 LimChick Winner last year with my entry about our Stirrup Queen Mel’s book Life from Scratch. Many thanks to all who voted for my entry:

Rachel Goldman is learning to cook.
Her blog posts are so “off the hook!”
Mix divorce with cuisine
and lots in between,
find out more, read Mel’s Life from Scratch book.

If you haven’t read Life from Scratch yet, I highly recommend it and look forward to the sequel, which is on it’s way. Did you know that some fictional characters even have their own Pinterest boards? Rachel Goldman, the main character in Mel’s book, is going to have her own soon. In the meantime you can check out a cool one that Mel created for Life from Scratch and this one for the sequel.

This year my LimChick entry is in honor of my friend Dresden. Many of you have known and followed her journey for years, including taking care of her grandmother who had Alzheimer’s and then her experience Creating Motherhood which led to the birth of her son W. Last year she took the brave step to say goodbye to her longtime alias “Calliope.” I was inspired to write this limerick around that time and have been looking forward to sharing it with all of you ever since.

For years she was known as Calliope,
designing mastheads and caring for Mille.
When W was born,
mothering became her new norm.
Dresden ditched her alias and felt free.

Now get your creative juices flowing and head on over to Lori’s blog to find out more about how to enter your own limerick

Please also consider voting for this Limerick Chick when the time comes.

Thank you!

It’s so clever the way you included her important people and told a little story. You’re so good at this!
