Schedule changes

in Bob, CHD, FET #1, Molly, Terbutaline

A little while ago I got a phone call from our perinatal cardiologist, Dr. Cuneo. The only other time she has called us directly, it wasn’t the best of news, so I was a bit worried. Initially she said she was calling to check in and see how I was doing with my first 24 hours on Terbutaline. I told her that the Terbutaline is definitely an adjustment and just about everything it was described to be to me by her and others who knew about the medication and/or have taken it themselves. I feel jittery/shaky most of the time, almost like I have the shivers, but I am not cold. I also feel a little nauseous, but it has only been a few weeks since that symptom of pregnancy stopped with this pregnancy, so I can easily get use to that again. It is certainly an adjustment, but it not totally unbearable. Dr. Cuneo said she was glad to hear that it wasn’t too bad.

Then Dr. Cuneo said that she would like for us to come back a week earlier than she told us yesterday. So Molly’s next fetal echocardiogram will be next Wednesday, February 20 at 11:00 a.m. We already have our monthly MFM (Maternal Fetal Medicine) appointment with Dr. Suarez scheduled for that morning at 9:00 a.m., so we will go for the fetal echocardiogram after that appointment. I asked Dr. Cuneo if she wanted to see us/Molly again sooner because after reviewing the echocardiogram from yesterday that things seem worse than she originally thought they were. Dr. Cuneo said that was not the case. She explained that she just wants to keep tabs on Molly and see how the Terbutaline is working a week from now, instead two weeks from now. Just in case it might not be working as well as we all hope it will, Dr. Cuneo could increase the dosage and/or the frequency in which I take the Terbutaline, before it would be too late to help Molly’s heart.

While this does mean yet another doctor appointment, Bob and I certainly look forward to getting an update sooner on how Molly’s heart is doing and if my taking Terbutaline is working. Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, kind words, positive thoughts and prayers.

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!!

Kathy,
I’m hoping that Molly’s heart is holding steady at that next ECHO. I am praying for Molly that she continues to grow stronger as each day passes.

I am glad that the medicine is not TOO awful and that you get to see Molly in just a week!
