One step forward, two steps back…

Good morning! Today I am 12 weeks and 2 days pregnant. We did tell Sean on Friday evening and he is VERY excited to be a big brother! I am looking forward to sharing about Sean and Friday in a separate post soon, however right now I am having trouble being positive in light of the past 8 hours or so…

Last night about 10:30pm I started spotting some red blood. It has continued very lightly off and on since. I was able to sleep last night, though it was hard initially. I know many success stories of women bleeding at this stage of pregnancy and am trying to focus on those, but it is still scary. When our OB’s office opens this morning I plan to check in and hopefully arrange to be seen today. I have my 12-13 week appointment scheduled for Saturday and if they wanted, today could even take it’s place. My head is trying to tell me that everything is going to be fine, that we just saw the baby with a strong heartbeat last Wednesday moving around inside me. But my heart is understandably worried. Bob and I did have intercourse for the first time in a long time earlier this weekend and initially I wasn’t worried because I thought it might just be from that, as I know a pregnant woman’s cervix is sensitive and intercourse can irritate it. But I am just not sure how much red spotting, if at all, is normal following that.

Anyway, we really appreciate your positive thoughts, stick vibes and prayers right now, more than ever. We want this child to be a part of our family so much and can’t imagine losing it right now, especially three days after letting Sean know about the baby and that he is going to be a big brother. Thank you for sharing this journey with us and I really hope to be posting again later today with good news. Take care and God bless.

I hope all is well, Kathy.

At 11 weeks, I bled so heavily that it was like a bad period, and the ER doc said it didn’t look hopeful at all. It turned out to be caused by the placenta being over my cervix and everyone was fine.

(((hugs)))
