She comes to me at night, when I should be sleeping.
She inspires me to write and I can’t hold back.
The words flow and I feel like I am on fire.
Sometimes I really feel like someone or something is using me as a vehicle to communicate.
When this happens I feel compelled to go with it and often find myself lying in bed typing feverishly with my thumbs in the “notes” app on my iPhone. Then later I will email myself the notes.
Some of my best blog posts (in my opinion) have come to me and been written this way.
Awhile back I came across this blog post, with an interesting discussion in the comment section, about muses via @elizabethscraig (who frequently tweets interesting and helpful links about writing). If you are intrigued by the concept of muses I think it is a worthwhile read.
So now you tell me…
When and how does your muse visit you?

My muse comes in the morning, on my way to work. And then I end up writing instead of prepping and when 1st period starts I don't have anything ready and I'm a wreck the rest of the day. It's awesome.
Thank you for sharing Esperanza. Its validating to know that I am not the only one who is visited by my muse at somewhat inopportune times… xoxo
Why is it that we often feel the most inspired when we *should* be doing something else (such as working or sleeping)?!
It reminds me of when I was in grade school and our teacher would tell us not to talk to our classmates at certain times. It was during those moments that I always felt like I had so much to share and it was very difficult for me to keep my mouth shut.
