Good morning!
Bob and I had our appointment at our OB/GYN’s office today. I am pleased to report that it went well. We saw the same doctor that we saw four weeks ago, which was nice, as she already knew about our history and current pregnancy. The appointment was relatively uneventful, which is how we like them.
The highlight was being able to hear our little baby’s heartbeat through the Doppler. Our doctor said that it sounded to be about in the 170s, which was very good and around where it was two weeks ago at our ultrasound. Bob commented later that all throughout our pregnancy with Molly our doctors told us that babies heartbeats are supposed to sound like racehorses galloping. However Molly’s never did, it was always irregular and slow. After Bob reflected on this, he said that it was great to hear our baby’s heart rate today and especially that it actually sounded just like a racehorse! I definitely got choked up being able to hear our baby’s heartbeat through the Doppler this morning.
Our next prenatal appointment will be Friday, March 27. Prior to that we will have our “First Trimester Ultra Screen” on Wednesday, March 11, which will include blood work and another ultrasound. We may also have a consultation that day about our current pregnancy with the Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist that we dealt with a lot during our pregnancy with Molly.
Our baby is currently between 10 and 11 weeks gestation. At this point we are still keeping our pregnancy quiet, so please continue to keep this to yourselves. We appreciate your respecting our wishes. As I have mentioned before, the biggest reason we haven’t gone “public” with our news is that we hope to wait until we are further along (at least 14 – 16 weeks), if things continue to go well, before we tell Sean about our new baby.
Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, thoughts and prayers. With each step, day and doctor appointment that goes well, Bob and I allow ourselves to believe a bit more that we might get to bring this little miracle home later this year. We will keep you posted.
