In my last post I introduced you to Molly’s Godparents, my sister Meg and (almost) brother-in-law Bill. Tomorrow is their wedding day and I just wanted to take a quick time out from getting our things together, to head out their way, for the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner later today, to ask for your positive thoughts and prayers for them this weekend as they become husband and wife. I feel honored to be Meg’s matron-of-honor and am excited that Sean is their ring bearer!
I went for a run this morning and DJ Shuffle (my Ipod Shuffle that Meg gave me for mother’s day this year — which by the way, how many sisters give their sisters such generous mother’s day gifts, let alone a mother’s day gift at all?) played me a song that I hadn’t heard in a long time (though I did choose to upload it to my Ipod recently) and that was one of my favorites when I was a senior in high school in 1993. It is “These Are Days” by 10,000 Maniacs and as I ran and listened to the words I thought they really capture the joy and love that I felt on my wedding day and that I hope will surround Meg and Bill this weekend and especially tomorrow on their special day.
A few other prayer requests, one of Bill’s sister’s daughter is expecting and experiencing pre-term labor. Therefore both Bill’s sister (who Bill and Meg are very close to and was supposed to be a reader at their wedding tomorrow) and her daughter will not be able to be here for their wedding. Also, Meg’s best friend since childhood’s husband’s father is sick and in the hospital and so her friend’s husband will definitely not be coming to the wedding now and Meg told her good friend that she understands if she wants to stay home to be with her husband and family too. So please keep Meg and Bill’s niece (who is in pre-term labor) and Meg’s best friend’s father-in-law (who is sick in the hospital) and their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.
Anyway, I am excited to celebrate with Meg and Bill this weekend and believe that our baby girl Molly, their Goddaughter, will be with us in spirit watching over the newlyweds and all of us from Heaven. I leave you with the lyrics to These Are Days by 10,000 Maniacs:
THESE ARE DAYS
These are the days
These are days you’ll remember
Never before and never since, I promise
Will the whole world be warm as this
And as you feel it,
You’ll know it’s true
That you are blessed and lucky
It’s true that you
Are touched by something
That will grow and bloom in you
These are days that you’ll remember
When May is rushing over you
With desire to be part of the miracles
You see in every hour
You’ll know it’s true
That you are blessed and lucky
It’s true that you are touched
By something that will grow and bloom in you
These are days
These are the days you might fill
With laughter until you break
These days you might feel
A shaft of light
Make its way across your face
And when you do
Then you’ll know how it was meant to be
See the signs and know their meaning
It’s true
Then you’ll know how it was meant to be
Hear the signs and know they’re speaking
To you, to you
