Please send your prayers and positive thoughts to my online friend Sommer, her husband Skip, their daughter Calista and their new baby boys Ace and Nate, who were born last night via emergency c-section (at exactly 31 weeks). From what I have heard, through another online friend, Sommer had some bleeding and was dilated so they took them and flew them to Seattle. They had to be intubated but had apgars of 8. Some of you may follow Sommer’s blog called “Just One More….or perhaps two,” here is the link: http://www.sommer.cronck.com/.
I have known Sommer since January 2003, as we were in the same Estimated Due Date group (when I was pregnant with Sean and she was pregnant with Calista), on a website called Fertility Friend, and we have kept in touch ever since. We both started trying to have another child around the same time (in the summer of 2004) and ironically we both ended up struggling with secondary infertility in the years to follow.
Sommer was able to conceive her miracles baby boy twins through IVF and has been such a great inspiration and source of support to me, now going through IVF/FET cycles myself (she comments on my blog here from time to time). For those of you who belong to Sommer‘s Connected Moms website (http://www.connectedmoms.com/), I hear that Jess is keeping people updated over there.
Anyway, please keep Sommer, her baby boys and her family in your thoughts and prayers and I will let you know if and when I hear more. As recently as Thursday, Sommer had posted some awesome 3D ultrasound pictures and video on her blog of Nate (Baby B). It’s crazy what a difference a few days make.
