We had our second of two Intrauterine Inseminations (IUI) this morning. I got there just before 8:00 a.m., as I had yesterday, to deliver the semen. This time I stayed at the office for the 1 hour wait and caught up on my trashy Hollywood gossip magazine reading. I got called in to an examining room a little after 9:00 a.m. The woman who does blood work and washes the sperm told me that I got the “purple room today!” I hadn’t noticed the color scheme of the decor of the room I was in yesterday, but today’s definitely did have a very purple theme! The floor was a bright purple color which was cheerful!
I had a different nurse do the procedure today, than yesterday, but she was still very nice and things went smoothly. She told me that Bob’s sperm sample had yielded 16 million sperm with 94% motility, which she seemed pleased with. She said with this sample only being 24 hours after yesterday’s is was normal for the count to go down. That said, it was very exciting to hear that the motility was almost perfect, as the better they can swim, the better our chances that they will find their way to my egg(s)! She told me that we should also have intercourse tonight, as the more the merrier right now, in terms of allowing as many sperm as possible to have access to their target(s)!
I have been very crampy all day yesterday and thus far today. It is likely a combination of recovering from the IUI procedures and discomfort from the size of my follicles (since I had at least 4 to 7 that were of significant size at my ultrasound on Monday). I scheduled my Beta blood test (to determine if this works/if we conceive) for Monday, June 25 at 7:00 a.m. So I will be able to get that taken care of before we jet off to Vegas for the week! 😉
My parents watched Sean this morning, while I was at my appointment, and dropped him off at his summer arts camp. Now we are going to go pick him up and meet a friend and her son at McDonald’s for lunch before going to see “Surfs Up” at the movie theater!
Thank you all for your continued support, thoughts and prayers, especially when we found out that this cycle didn’t go quite as we had hoped or planned. I may post off and on between now and the Beta blood test, though I won’t know much until then!

I’ve been following your story and just wanted to send you a BIG HUG!!!
I’ve noticed your parents live in Evanston!!..
I am from Mexico and currently in Mexico, but my husband and I lived in Evanston for two wonderful years while he attended grad school at Northwestern. I just love that town!
Thank you for following our story and for the hug! 🙂 Yes, my parents live in Evanston. It is where I was raised and where my husband and I lived for the first three years of our marriage! So cool that you lived there for two years when your husband was in grad school at NU! I agree, it is an awesome place to live!
