To quote Forrest Gump, this morning “I just felt like running…” So instead of participating in the group fitness class where I go to workout, I called a friend (who I use to run pretty regularly with this time last year) and we went for a run instead (while our children were in the babysitting room at the place we exercise at). It felt great to run again! It was the first time I had run in about 6 months (mostly because of knee problems I had been having since October and more recently because of doing IVF). Anyway, it was great to catch up with my friend and I was surprised, that though I ran very slowly (which my friend was nice enough to go along with, since she has been running some lately and is in better shape than me right now), we ran for 37 minutes straight!
I am now seriously considering running our neighborhood annual Memorial Day 5K race called the “Ridge Run” in a few weeks (since I don’t think I will have started my new medications by then, or at least if I have I am pretty sure I would only be on suppression ones)! Last year I ran the “Ridge Run,” it was my first 5K and finishing was a huge accomplishment to me! I had never been into running and really learned over months of training how to do it, and to appreciate the benefits of doing it. My point of all this is that I am proud of myself for making the most of this time before this next cycle really gets going with injections and all!
Sean and I are off to his art class now, but I wanted to share about my Forrest Gump moment from today! 😉
