7 weeks!

Tomorrow we will be 7 weeks pregnant! 🙂 This is a big milestone for us, as both of our miscarriages began prior to 7 weeks gestation and our ectopic pregnancy already showed signs for concern prior to 7 weeks… I found a website today that said after you make it to 6 weeks gestation you have only a 5% chance of miscarriage and less if you have seen a heartbeat (which we have)! So we find that encouraging as well! 🙂

Bob just ran out to get his pregnant wife the Portillo’s beef -n- cheddar croissant sandwich, cheese fries and chocolate milkshake I was craving for dinner and something for himself to eat too! Oh the perks of being pregnant… 😉 That is the first meal that I ate after Sean was born, well at least the first solid meal I ate (as after a c-section they make you eat lots of liquids and bland foods until you pass gas for the first time, it may sound easy, but for some reason it can be really difficult and take time)! Anyway, I feel very blessed and lucky to have such an awesome husband willing to go get me some yummy dinner from a place that doesn’t deliver, after a busy week at work! 🙂

Sean is already asleep for the night, as he didn’t nap today. We had a fun and full day, being his day off from preschool (he attends Monday – Thursday). We visited Bob’s paternal grandma this morning before his weekly “Seasonal Sports” class at our local park district. I grocery shopped while he was at his class and stocked up on anything and everything that looked or sounded good to my queasy stomach! So far some of my favorite foods that seem to help me cope with my morning (really all day) sickness are (in no particular order): lemonade, lemon drops/lemon heads, potato chips, pizza (this has been a big one and I have been making “English muffin pizzas” for lunch a lot), graham crackers, peanut butter on banana, strawberry pop-tarts, oats and honey granola bars, Pepperidge Farm cinnamon bread, White Cheddar Chez-Its and Cookie Crisp cereal! I have lined up most of my favorite nausea fighting snacks on our kitchen counter top and when I start to feel sick/hungry I look it all over until something speaks to me and then I eat it! 😉

This afternoon Sean and I met some of our neighborhood friends at a local park that he loves because freight trains pass by it frequently and he likes to watch them go by and hear the railroad crossing signals go down and see them light up! He had fun running around with his friends and especially jumping in a pile of leaves they found! I had a good visit with his friends’ mommy and enjoyed seeing her cutie pie three month old baby girl and imagining our life this time next year with our own little one!

Another pregnancy symptom that has been big this week for me is fatigue. I have been going to bed much earlier than usual and finding it more difficult to get out of bed in the morning. One night I fell asleep on our living room couch, while Bob was watching TV, about 7:00 p.m., moved upstairs about 9:30 p.m. when Bob was ready to go to bed, and woke up the next morning (not counting a few brief middle of the night visits to the bathroom) at 6:00 a.m. (when Sean came into our room to tell us he was awake)! So 11 hours in one night isn’t too bad?! 😉

Some other highlights from this past week in our life was a week ago Friday going to see “The Bee Movie” with Sean, my parents and one of his best buddies! 🙂 Prior to the movie we went to McDonald’s so the boys could get Happy Meals with “Bee Movie” toys in them! Monday evening my mom, my sister and I had a “girls night out” and met for dinner at the “Billy Goat Tavern” (home of the famous “Cheezeborger, Cheezeborger…” from the SNL skit) before attending an awesome live performance, at the United Center, of the top ten dancers from this year’s “So You Think You Can Dance” show! We got to see all of our favorite dance routines from this season including “Time” and “Sweet Dreams Are Made of This!”

A special prayer request for my mother’s Uncle Bill. He is 91 years old and in the ICU at a hospital in South Carolina. Over a year ago he was diagnosed with cancer and they told his two daughters (my mom’s cousins) that he only had weeks to live. Well he showed them and lived a lot longer, but now is said to be “near the end.” He was my maternal grandfather’s best friend and was married to my maternal grandmother’s younger sister. He in many ways was like my third grandfather growing up, as both he and my great aunt retired to Hilton Head Island, along with my maternal grandparents when I was in preschool. We visited them all there annually for a good 20 years and have so many wonderful memories of times spent together. My paternal grandfather died in 1998, my maternal grandmother in 2000 and her younger sister/Bill’s wife in October of last year (2006). Uncle Bill has two living daughters, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a sister, three nieces (my mom, her cousin and one who is deceased), two grand-nieces (my sister and me) and a great-grand nephew (Sean). We all love him very much and want the best for him, whether that means recovery or peace in Heaven (with those who have gone before him, including his dear wife). Thank you for keeping my Great Uncle Bill and especially his immediate family in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

I am sure that there is more to share about this week, but I am getting queasy again and if Bob doesn’t get here soon with our dinner, I will have to resort to the kitchen counter for a tider-over! 😉

Thank you for your continued comments, emails, enthusiasm, support, positive thoughts, sticky vibes and prayers!
