What Do You Hear?

I was just telling Abby about the voices I hear in my head…

Example #1:
When I forget to say, “please,” I hear my mom in my head saying, “Say, please, mom.”

Example #2:
When I say “good,” instead of “well,” when I should have, I hear my dad saying, “Or even, well…”

Do you ever hear voices like that?!

I am participating in my friend Mel’s writing exercise/blog hop called #MicroblogModays. Click on the hashtag to learn more about it, participate, and/or read other Microblogs for this Monday.

I hear my grandpa’s voice every time I make, or do not make, any of the *many* ridiculous jokes he used to tell. Nice thought, thanks for the prompt.

I think I hear my dad’s voice most of all. In more situations than I can count. 🙂

There are definitely things like that — where saying something makes me hear again the original conversation that stuck in my head — but now I’m drawing a blank trying to grab for an example.

I’ve just spent a week with my mother, and unfortunately for a few days everything I said sounded like her! If I ever say, “Can I …?” I hear her saying (or singing), “Can I canoe you up the river?” in response. Usually that meant she wasn’t going to respond, and that I shouldn’t whine!

Anytime I head outside without a warm jacket or (in the winter) a hat on my head, I hear my grandma’s voice in my head. In fact, I can clearly picture her looking down on me from the heavens & shaking her finger at me. Sometimes I’ll tell dh that she’s shaking her finger at him too. 😉
