Four Eyes (Version 2.0)

I got new glasses recently. They are only the second pair of prescription lenses I have owned. Though I don’t know if I will ever completely get used to wearing them, I do like how they look. It was fun to pick out a new ones, especially since it has been 3 1/2 years since I got my first pair.

Do you wear/have you ever worn glasses and/or contacts?

If so, which do you prefer? Why?

Have you had/would you ever have Lasik surgery?

I really, really want to get Lasik but my RX changes every year, and my optometrist wants an RX to stay steady for a few years 🙁 I like your glasses, though 🙂

I haven’t had glasses yet, although my entire family wears them. I’d probably have to go with glasses because my eyes love to produce mucus, especially since my chemical burn.

You look cute in those!

I got my first pair of glasses in the 8th grade and got contact lenses in high school. I wore contacts almost exclusively until I got pregnant with Joey and my script/contact supply ran out around month 5. Due to spending time/money on the kids, I am just getting around to going back to contacts…CAN’T WAIT.

And, yeah, I’d do lasik in a heartbeat.

Look how cute and fresh faced you are!

I have both glasses and contacts, but I wear my contacts almost full time (I have extended wear contacts that can be worn 24/7 for 30 days and I do wear them that way. Then, I dispose of them and wear my glasses for 2-3 days straight to give my eyes a break).

I have always said that once they develop an eye drop that can be calibrated to fix one’s specific vision issue, I will be the first in line. But, cutting my eye open while I am awake and while my lids are held open in an A Clockwork Orange type vice? No thank you.

You picked a very stylish pair!

I used to wear glasses, then contacts. Despite my utter paralytic fear, I got LASIK on one eye 2 years ago. Now I have an eye for distance and an eye for reading. It wasn’t as bad as I feared: http://www.milehighmamas.com/2010/01/26/the-complete-scaredy-cats-guide-to-lasik/

Those are cute! : ) I have needed correction since I was 7. I wore glasses until I was 17 & going into Grade 12 & FINALLY (after much pleading to both my parents & my optometrist) got contact lenses (supplemented by glasses). They were such a boost to my ego. Vanity, my name is Lori. ; )

However, about 7-10 years ago, I got an eye infection and had to stop wearing my contacts until it cleared up — which took several months. Once it had cleared up, I needed new contacts. Unfortunately, the company that made the lenses I’d been using had gone out of business!! so I had to go through the whole rigamorole of finding new lenses that felt good & gave me good vision. I tried several different brands & prescriptions & just couldn’t find something that fit the bill. Either they felt good but the vision wasn’t quite right, or the vision was great, but they were uncomfortable to wear. I finally gave up after awhile. Seventeen-year-old me would never have believed it.

I still ask my optometrist to give me a pair to try now & then, but still haven’t found the magic fit yet. In the meantime, I’ve had to start wearing BIFOCALS. :p My one comfort is that my baby sister got them before I did. ; )

I am frankly too chicken to get the laser surgery done. I am not sure I would be a good candidate anyway.

(Sorry I am so far behind in my blog reading. Sloooooowwwwwly catching up…!!) (Of course, you were highly prolific during July…!)
