A Beautiful Day to Remember

To all those who have lost a baby, at any stage of life and development (including miscarriage, stillbirth and infant death), my thoughts and prayers go out to you, especially on this International Babylost Mothers Day.

According to Carly Dudley, founder of International Babylost Mothers Day (IBMD) and Names in the Sand:

IBMD recognizes babylost women all over the world as mothers. Just because a woman loses her baby does not mean that she is not a mother anymore. She will be a mother for the rest of her life.

On the first Sunday in May we come together to celebrate our connection, our children and our hope for the future. IBMD is a day for love, peace, remembrance and recognition.

Click on the above picture to find out more about this special day for those whose babies have gone much too soon. You can even download a copy of one or more of the colorful flowers that include the message “You are a Beautiful Mother” to send to Babylost moms that you know and love who are remembering, grieving and healing today. Many thanks to Carly for yet another wonderful way that mothers who have lost babies can find some peace, comfort and validation.

I look forward to celebrating Mother’s Day, here in the US, and spending time with my living children Sean and Abigail, along with Bob and my mothers next Sunday. I feel very blessed and lucky that I will have that opportunity. However, today I am taking some time to honor the memories of our baby girl Molly and our three angel “Babies Benson” that filled our minds and our hearts with so many hopes and dreams for their lives and our family between the births of their older brother Sean and younger sister Abby.

However you spend this day, I hope that if you have lost one or more babies that you find some peace and comfort in knowing that whether or not you ever got to give birth to or bring home your child(ren), you are, and will always be, a beautiful mother.

I'm thinking about you today and all your babies that aren't here.

I didn't know about this day! I've lost 4 babies early in pregnancy, most recently an ectopic after the birth of our son (conceived after a 4.5 year struggle with secondary IF). I cannot imagine how many times harder it must be to lose a baby near the end of pgcy, whether born asleep or only in this world briefly. I send love and good wishes and hope for your continued 'recovery' after your pgcy losses, and especially the loss of precious little Molly. My heart aches for you!
