Happy 3rd Heavenly Birthday
Molly Marie!

Where does the time go? It is hard for me to grasp that today we will be releasing three balloons into the sky when we visit your grave, light a candle and sing happy birthday to our forever baby girl.

It has been another incredible and very busy year for our family, but no matter how chaotic and wonderful things get, you are never far from our minds.

This time last year Mommy asked you to try to intercede on behalf of your Godparents/Aunt Meg and Uncle Bill who wanted so much to build their family through adoption. I also mentioned my concerns about your Great Grandma “GG’s” health.

Whether or not you had anything to do with the outcomes of either request, we were overjoyed when your new cousin joined our family not long after your birthday in May and are grateful that GG was able to heal, rest in peace and join you in Heaven in June.

Which leads me to wonder what I should ask you for this year… Maybe to win the lottery?! I suppose Mommy and Daddy would have to actually buy a ticket for that to even be a possibility, which we rarely do. Besides, we feel like we already did having been blessed with three amazing children who have taught us so much about how to be parents and better people each in your own way.

I know you are not our personal wish granting genie/angel, but I do continue to find comfort in the image of you watching out for and over us from Heaven and even at times being able to put in a good word for us with God. It helps me to feel that the space between those who have died and gone before us and those of us left behind isn’t nearly as big or scary as it may have once seemed to me. You really were and I believe you still are a brave little soul.

Recently one of your aunts sent me an adorable video that she had taken of your cousin/my Goddaughter “reading” a very special book that I found and we gave her not long after she was born. The book is called Molly in the Garden  and is also one of your sister Abby’s favorites.

You and your cousin were due only 6 weeks apart in 2008 and we wanted so much for you to be able to grow up together.

It is bittersweet for me to look at your adorable cousin and imagine what qualities and characteristics you might have shared. Would you have played dress up together and enjoyed dancing to Ralph’s World songs?

Would you be trying to learn to “read” like your big brother Sean, just like your cousin was trying to do like her big sister in the video? What games and activities would you be teaching your little sister Abby?

We are doing our best to keep your memory alive in our home and our family. We talk about you when it feels right and it means so much to me when Sean brings you up in conversation.

The older he gets the more your brother wants to know about you and the more he understands. I find this both heartwarming and heartbreaking.

We are also trying to slowly introduce you and your place in our family to Abby. Guess what?!  She already knows how to say your name! At first she said “Mol” and more recently she has started saying “Ma-yee.” Sometimes when Abby sees a picture of you she will smile and say “baby.”

Now and then Sean will talk about what he pictures you and your “Heavenmates” (like classmates, he has said) are doing together for fun in the afterlife. One day this year he asked if I thought you were taking swimming lessons. I thought that was so precious.

Whatever you are doing in Heaven to mark the 3rd anniversary of
your birth and death baby girl, I hope and pray that you know in some way how much we love you and that you will always be in our hearts.

Please watch for your birthday balloons later today, as we will be sending them your way soon with lots of Heavenly hugs and kisses.

I love you and I miss you more than words can ever say.

Happy Birthday my sweet Molly-girl!

Love always,
Mommy
