Sean’s Special Prayers

Last night we got home from Sean’s last AYSO soccer game of the season/awards night and since he was getting to bed later we skipped our normal format for prayers (naming all of our family members and some close friends, followed by our “special prayers”) and went with the abbreviated “God bless all our family and friends.” Sean still wanted to add some “special prayers” at the end. His is two special prayers were especially sweet and so I thought I would share.

Sean’s first special prayer was that “Molly is the best baby in Heaven!” The other was “for God, Dr. Seuss and Molly in Heaven.” Recently Sean wanted to start praying for Dr. Seuss, since he is really into all things Seuss and reading lots of Dr. Seuss books. I reminded him that Dr. Seuss had died many years ago, but that we believe he is in Heaven with God and Molly and that it is still okay to pray for him. So most nights now Sean prays for Dr. Seuss after he prays for his friends/buddies and before we pray for his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

As I mentioned in a recent post we decided to redecorate Sean’s room, soon-to-be the kids’ room, in a Dr. Seuss theme. Though we still have wall decorations to add, here is a picture of what it looks like so far, especially thanks to Bob’s hard work and dedication to making it happen over the weekend, including repainting the room and putting the crib together:

If she doesn’t arrive early, Baby Benson is due to be born six weeks from Thursday! We are in the home stretch! 🙂 Last night I had some pain/discomfort that resembled contractions, however it didn’t really seem to amount to anything. It did remind me though that it is probably not a bad idea to pack a small bag for the hospital, “just in case.” As if we had to go last night I was totally not prepared. So I plan to get some things together today, knowing that it is unlikely they will be used prior to September 17.

It continues to be both exciting and surreal to be “getting ready” for our new baby and I am very grateful that we have made it this far. There are still days and times when I find it hard to imagine that we might actually get to bring a healthy baby home from the hospital. However, I am trying to remain cautiously optimistic, doing my best to enjoy these final weeks of our pregnancy and feeling our baby girl move about inside me, while it lasts. I hope this finds you and your loved ones in good spirits and having a wonderful summer. Take care and God bless.
