Remembering Molly (3 months)

Today it has been three months since our baby girl Molly Marie was born and went to Heaven. In honor of this milestone and her memory I want to share with you something special our family has in our home that helps us to remember our daughter/baby sister and the impact her short, but very special life, has had on so many other people’s lives.

Molly’s paternal grandma/Bob’s mom made this cross stitch and gave it to us the day Molly/her granddaughter was buried. Mom Benson made cross stitches for Bob and me, as well as his siblings and their spouses for wedding gifts and traditionally has also made them for each of her grandchildren. She creates them with much love throughout our pregnancies and presents them to us on the day of our baby’s baptism.

Mom Benson made a beautiful one for Sean and I always looked forward to receiving another one of her very special creations if and when another child were to join our family. I never dreamed it would be under these circumstances and didn’t take for granted that my mother-in-law would even make one for Molly. After we found out Molly’s diagnosis and prognosis I really hoped that she still would do it, however I didn’t want to ask and impose my feelings about it. Especially in case it could make her uncomfortable. So the day I found out that Mom Benson was working on a cross stitch for Molly, for our family to honor (and though we didn’t know forsure at the time, to ultimately remember) our baby girl, I was very happy and grateful. It meant so much to me that my mother-in-law, knowing when she started this labor of love that her granddaughter might never live to see it, would still put so much time and effort into this gift to our family. I have made two cross stiches in my life and know they are not an easy task, require a lot of patience and most of all love and care for the person(s) for which it is intended.

On this three month milestone I want to again thank my mother-in-law/Bob’s mom/Sean and Molly’s paternal Grandma for this beautiful and very special gift of love that you made. I also want to share this awesome cross stitch honoring our baby girl with all of you. The phrase Mom Benson chose to stitch on the bottom of the picture “You touched so many hearts” she told me was not the original one in the design that came with the pattern. She picked out the words herself, because she thought they best represented Molly and her life here on earth.

Molly, you did touch so many hearts and we will be forever grateful to have you in ours. We miss you, we love you so much and we believe we will all be together again someday in Heaven.

As an aside, I want to wish one of our nephews, one of our friends’ daughters and another of our friends’ sons all very happy first birthdays!!! I couldn’t believe it last year when I found out that three families that are so special to our family all had babies born on the same day. It truly was an awesome day when these three children joined our world and we wish them and their families all another wonderful year as they grow and develop as toddlers in the days and months to come.

Thank you for your continued support, thoughts and prayers as we remember our Molly-girl on this three month milestone since she was born and died. May God continue to bless you and your loved ones.

P.S. – The cream colored braided thing behind the frame in the picture above I made earlier this year during Lent on Palm Sunday while Molly was still living and moving around inside of me. I make them every year for our family and some of our friends and typically, in our home, put them behind each of our cross stitches from Mom Benson as a symbol of our faith. I made one this year for behind Bob and my wedding cross stitch, one for behind Sean’s and one for Molly’s. I like knowing when I see the one behind Molly’s that she was still with us here on earth when I made it for her. We also had Molly buried with another of the braided palms I made this year on Palm Sunday.
