Today’s news

in CHD, FET #1, Molly, Sean

Just a quick update… I had my OB appointment this morning and was told that I am not preeclampsic (in fact the OB in the practice we saw said my numbers weren’t even close). So that was a relief for me in terms of my own physical health. It was a bit of a let down emotionally, as I had somewhat geared up for the possibility of delivering Molly today. That said, I do understand that we want to do what is best and safest for everyone involved and if they don’t have a reason to deliver her now, they shouldn’t.

One annoying thing today was that the results of my 1 hour glucose test on Saturday morning were a bit high, so tomorrow morning I will get the joy of doing the 3 hour glucose test. I had the same thing happen when I was pregnant with Sean and I ultimately passed the 3 hour test. So I am hoping that I pass this time too, as I would really prefer to not have to follow a diabetic diet going forward with the rest of this pregnancy, with everything else we are dealing with.

Our OB was able to find Molly’s heart beat, even though I have felt a decrease in her movement over the past few days. So unless I go 24 hours without feeling Molly move at all, our next OB appointment will be on Thursday in the late morning.

So we continue to take this one day at a time. Thank you for your messages, emails, phone calls, thoughts and prayers. I hope that you and your loved ones had a very blessed and happy Easter.

Love, Kathy

Kathy,
Glad to hear that there is no pre-eclamp involved. 3 hour glucose test…yuck. They did that with me all 3 times…and it always came back fine.

I continue to think of you in the days ahead.

If your numbers are a bit high…it wouldn’t be suprising given the stress you’ve been under, and that stress can naturally raise glucose numbers…as can being sick with a cold. I was mis-diagnosed as gestationally diabetic because of this. Luckily I had a doctor that figured it out.

And not to be insensitive…but honestly…if the worst is going to happen and Molly will not make it, and either pass in utero or right after…why should you worry about your numbers. Honestly…they wouldn’t stay high enough for long enough to worry about causing you damage to your health. And if your doctors are correct and Molly will pass, then she won’t suffer any ill effects from it either. I think (unless I’m wrong and there is a big impending health reason) that you should just spend the rest of your time being as at peace as you can be right now. Coming to terms with all that is happening…not figuring out how many crackers and cheese you should eat and what snack you should have before bed. You have enough on your plate to worry about than…whats ON you plate. Seriously…you’ve earned a pass on this one.

Oh Kathy – I think you should ask not to have to do the 3 hr test. That is beyond miserable. I am glad for your and molly that you are having suffering from pre-eclampsia

Kathy,

I can’t even begin to understand how hard this waiting and testing must be on you. Just know that, as always, you and your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I know I live so far away, but if there is ANYthing that you need through the mail . . .just let me know.

Katie
