“You know it may have actually worked…”

Today I am 5dp5dpt (10 dpo)! Only 5 more days until THE blood test and we find out if Sean is going to be a big brother! ๐Ÿ™‚

I was talking with a friend yesterday about this time of waiting and how I was feeling about everything. I was filling her in on my conversation with the nurse yesterday and all the questions I has asked/answers I was given. Apparently she could tell by the direction the conversation was going that I didn’t seem to believe that I could be pregnant. So she says to me something to the effect of “you know it is possible that it may have actually worked! You might not need all these contingency plans because you might actually be pregnant!” She did have a point there… Later on in the day I was talking with my mom and had a very similar conversation! I actually told her about the conversation with my friend and when I told her the theory my friend had shared, my mom said she had just been thinking the same thing! So apparently I have been focusing a little to much on the “cautiously” and not enough on the “optimistic!” So with that I give today’s promising “symptom watch:”

Symptom watch: Starting sometime yesterday, not exactly sure when, and ongoing until the present time I have been experiencing mild, though definitely uncomfortable, cramping!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I find this so exciting as when I look back at my notes from my pregnancy with Sean I had from what I can recall, and understand from what I wrote at the time, very similar ongoing cramping that started around this same time in that cycle (about 9-10 dpo). I also checked notes from my first miscarriage and I did not have this type of cramping, but that pregnancy did end and obviously wasn’t a healthy one. I understand all pregnancies are/can be different and have been told by many people that they didn’t always have the same kind of symptoms with each of their healthy pregnancies, however I choose to believe this to be a good sign! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I also have been very tired today, I suppose it could be because I didn’t get as much sleep as I do normally last night, but I also choose to see it as another sign we might be pregnant! ๐Ÿ™‚ Finally, I had another vivid dream last night! ๐Ÿ™‚

Today has been a good day! This morning Sean and I went to a play date at a local children’s art museum which was fun! Later on this evening I am going to a “Spa Night” hosted by the organization that forms playgroups in our neighborhood, through which Sean and I were matched up with ours over 3 years ago! It is at a neighborhood woman’s house and I am really looking forward to the opportunity to be pampered, relax, hang out, eat (everyone brings snack foods and desserts) and catch up with some of my mom friends! ๐Ÿ™‚ I am planning to get a 15 minute back, head and neck massage and a pedicure! ๐Ÿ™‚ YAY! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you, as always, for your continued support, thoughts and prayers! ๐Ÿ™‚ This time next week I will be getting ready to celebrate Cinco de Mayo (Saturday, May 5) with a Margarita or a Corona beer, unless of course if we are pregnant (which is certainly my preferential outcome) then I will be opting for a root beer or some kind of non-alcoholic fiesta drink! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I was not focused on IVF working either. I was too busy trying to figure out how I would convince DH we should move on to adoption instead. I think it’s both a woman’s nature and an act of self-preservation to be planning the next steps in case it doesn’t work.

Hang in there!!!! (I got my BFP at 5dp5dt, you know….)

Thanks for validating my thoughts and feelings Sommer! I agree that it is natural for women to be always thinking one step ahead. I think men do it in their own way, but usually they seem to be more focused on topics like finances, rather than conception/adoption. You are too funny reminding me about your BFP at 10 dpo!:) I am still determined to hold out, but it sure is tempting! ๐Ÿ˜‰
