Just a quick post to let you know that the procedure went well and we are now officially Pregnant Until Proven Otherwise (PUPO)!!! 🙂

It was relatively painless, except for having to keep a full bladder so they could get a good view of my uterus through an abdominal ultrasound during the procedure. Of the 7 embryos that were fertilized, 4 made it to today. After transferring the 1 there may be up to 3 available for freezing. We will find out Thursday or Friday of this week if any of them make it to the freeze.

Our RE (as opposed to one of the others in the practice) did the transfer which we are happy about! He said that on a scale of 1-100, that the embryo they were putting in was about an 88. Not perfect, but he was pleased with it and thus so are we! There are some funny stories about our experience this morning that I will share at some point, but want to get back to resting on the couch, as I don’t want to ever wonder if anything I did today contributed if it doesn’t work out. I will go in for a Beta blood test on Wednesday, May 2 to determine if the embryo implanted and if our first try at IVF was successful! We are cautiously optimistic as we have been all along and appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers.

During the part of the procedure when they were actually putting our embryo into my uterus we got to watch on the ultrasound monitor, which was very cool, and I got a little choked up when I was struck by how amazing and real this all was. It was incredible to watch them place our embryo inside of me and we even got a picture, which as you can see above I scanned in and have included in this post! Our little one is the small white dot just below the five little arrows! How cool is that?! 🙂 We think he or she looks just like his or her big brother Sean (at least probably how he looked when he was that age)! 😉 I will check in with more details in the days to come, but am off to go relax while hopefully our little embryo gets comfortable inside of my uterus so he or she can settle in for the next 9 months of or so! 🙂

Glad to hear 4 made it! Now the wait begins. This has to be the hardest part.

Congrats, Kathy! I found the wait from ET to Beta much less stressful than the wait between ER and ET.

Grow, baby, GROW!!!
