We Have Our Fertilization Report!

We got a call this morning (about an hour earlier than the earliest we expected to hear) from the lab to let us know the fertilization report. Of the 11 eggs they retrieved yesterday, 7 were mature. Of the 7 mature eggs, ALL 7 FERTILIZED!!! 🙂 We were ecstatic to hear the news! We know that doesn’t mean all 7 will make it to the transfer or to be frozen, but we are still very encouraged! We will receive another call tomorrow letting us know if the ET will be on day 3 (Friday) or day 5 (Sunday).

The Progesterone in Oil (PIO) shot last night went very well! I was so proud of Bob and barely felt anything when he administered the injection. We iced the area for a few minutes before we got started and I think numbing it that way helped a lot. When he actually did the shot it wasn’t painfully at all, I just felt a bit of pressure. After the injection we iced it a bit longer, then massaged the area to help disperse the oil and then I used a heating pad for awhile on the area. All of those techniques had been recommended by various people I know who have experience doing the PIO shots and found them to be helpful. So all in all the experience was so much easier than I expected. The only down side is that the area of the shot is pretty sore today. Since it is an intermuscular injection I guess that is bound to happen.

Bob is working from home again today and helping to care for Sean so I can have another day of rest. I am still crampy, especially when I sit upright and am really appreciating the time to take care of myself and not have to worry about my normal responsibilities here at home. I think by tomorrow I will feel ready and able to return to my regular duties and caring for Sean. Last night one of our neighborhood friends had my favorite kind of pizza (Baracco’s Stuffed Sausage) sent over for dinner! It was very thoughtful and generous of her and we really enjoyed our meal and not having to prepare anything ourselves! Bob just left a little while ago to take Sean to his swimming class and I should probably get back to resting, but wanted to check in and give an update.

Thanks again for all of your support and continued thoughts and prayers! Before we went to sleep last night we said a little prayer for the 11 eggs, the sperm and the potential embryos we would learn about today. We will continue to pray for our 7 little embryos and would greatly appreciate your prayers for them too! Thank you! 🙂

7 fertilized is so wonderful!!!

I find the time from ER to ET to be the most stressful as you hope that babies are growing and dividing… hang in there. 🙂
