My Progesterone was Low! :)

I just got “the call” and my progesterone was low (0.3)! YIPEE!!! 🙂 So the nurse said she spoke with our RE and for now we are “pushing through” with the IVF cycle! I am to do one 5 unit injection of Lupron and one 300 IU injection of Follistim tonight (as I have been doing every night this week) and then report to the downtown office at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow morning for more monitoring. I will have blood work done and another u/s to measure the follicles’ growth. The RE is hoping that we can “overtake” the 19.5mm follicle and give the smaller ones more time to develop. Under this scenario I would not trigger before Sunday or Monday evening, with my ER Tuesday or Wednesday at the earliest.

There is still a chance that if the 19.5mm follicle grows significantly by tomorrow morning (the nurse said to about 21mm or more) and/or my progesterone level was to rise a lot, that we might still end up converting this cycle to IUI (with the trigger tomorrow night and IUIs Sunday and Monday). But time will tell.

It’s interesting in the few hours I had to think about both scenarios playing out I definitely found things I liked about each one (mainly the lack of PIO injections and invasive procedures that the IUI would bring), but in the end I would certainly rather we be eligible for the path that can lead to the best chance for us to conceive and sustain a pregnancy. And I will gladly take the PIO injections if it means there is a strong possibility doing them will enable us to realize our dream of having another child!
